Carina followed her dream

After 22 years at the same workplace, she decided to pursue her dream—a traineeship and education as a technical designer. She got her traineeship at Dana Tank in 2021 and will soon be fully trained.

During her traineeship at Dana Tank, she has learned about, designed, and worked with pressure vessels. She hasn’t yet learned to add welding standards (WPS), so she has to watch her boss closely for that. "I learn everything about pressure vessels with air or water."

A project starts in the sales department, moves on to the design manager, and then to the design department where Carina works. Afterwards, it is sent to the purchasing department, and finally, the entire project is put into production.

During a workday, Carina naturally spends time in front of the computer drawing, making calculations, etc., but she also frequently goes out to the workshop to talk with her colleagues about their tasks. Speaking with her colleagues gives her a broader understanding of the company. She especially sees the importance of welding standard WPS codes as they describe the welding process, thickness, strength, and wire.

There are welders from different ethnic backgrounds as well as Danish people. So, my English in the field is getting polished up a bit. I now remember many terms only in English.

"When I walk around the workshop, I am greeted with big smiles and sometimes have a little chat. They ask me politely, and I ask them," Carina says, concluding: "I’m just happy to be here, and the next trainee who gets the opportunity will be lucky too."
